I was just called yesterday that the safe I ordered was in and ready to be installed at my house. I ordered a manual dial safe and seriously contemplated having them upg to a digital.

        Glad I didn't....

If I ever buy a safe it'll be electronic with a manual dial if the battery goes dead.

I don't have time to read the thread, but I'm assuming its probably the exact same safe my dad has. He had the key pad mess up and one call to winchester and they had a new one sent out to him free of charge.

It had nothing to do with being digital. The mechanism inside the door broke

I would be willing to bet money it was just like Winchester said. He had something binding the door, and he kept trying to strong arm it open and broke the internal mechanism ..

But yeah the OP's issue on the Hunting forum never had anything to do with a digital keypad....

If there is an EMP it will render electronics useless. Get the manual lock. Or a Faraday cage.

The Amsec I am getting has both electronic and a backup/override key with manual hand crank.

I right now have a keyed metal cabinet. I have to go find my car keys anytime I want into my safe...I've had a electronic mini safe for about 5 years, zero problems.

but my entire house and head are surrounded by tin foil, so no worries here. I'll just put extra tin foil on my electronic safe lock too
