Service these days sucks it seems. I used to wait tables myself. But it all depends on where you wait tables at. When I waited tables I always tried to work at a mid to high scale place. I worked in Uptown for awhile at a place called STRONGS & then moved to their sister restaurant Reds Patio Grill. I always made good tips at both places. But I also gave good service. I could tell when people wanted to be left alone & just keep their drinks topped off & then others who liked the conversation of their waiter. I enjoyed waiting tables at both places. But it was cause they where both upper scale places & hence the food was more & the check total was more & my tip was more. But here in Mesquite and Garland area. Service sucks. I cant stand going out to eat anymore just cause of the service. Im not about to go drive to Plano to eat or Uptown either. So now we stay home or if we go out. We go to Rockwall or Rowlett. Oh & Leftys & Panchos in Rowlett has shitty service too. But their margritas are good & cheap

Just try tipping in Japan. The waiter will chase you down the street to try and hand your money back. The don't want your tip, period.

That is exactly it. They will up the price by 25%, and give the server 15%.

It's the same way in NZ. I believe a waitress told me they averaged $17 an hour, a few years ago

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I'd rather tip than leave it up to restaurant owners to pay their servers well , because they probably wont. I don't mind tipping if it incentivises good service. What pisses me off is the fact they expect to get tipped after providing horrible service.

                First of all, it's "Poncho's and Lefty's"

Second, don't go hating on my buddy Carols (a waiter there). Fact is, the wait staff are under staffed. They might be slow, but they don't fuck up your order.

Third, If you want to try some awesome Italian food, go to Costra Nostra in Rowlett at Dalrock and 66. It's not cheap, but it is full of win!

I think the whole tipping thing was meant to make the server work for the patron, not the restaurant. The point was to enhance the experience for the patron while saving the restaurant money.

I got back yesterday from being in Japan and Taiwan for 3 weeks. I have to say service was generally a lot better than what we usually get here.

At restarants we had our server who took our order, but the rest of the servers would also come by and check on us. When we would ask for something we didn't get the 'let me find your waiter' line nor did we get other servers passing by our table as if we didn't exist just so we don't ask for something.

It's been several times I can recall when we have been looking up and around for our server here and not find them till after a while. Yet over there it truly seemed as they like their job no matter their position. If we looked up and made eye contact they we already offing their service.

I'm not a balla so I don't go to high end restaurants often and that can be part of the reason. The gf said that bc they don't get tips they are expected to do an excellent job, and if they don't then it's very easy for them to be fired on the spot.

All in all services was better everywhere. Especially the airport, it was a slap back into reality once we arrived in Chicago on our way back lol

Yeah Carlos is the one that sucks, Dude takes forever & walks like he has all day. Sorry bro, But your buddy sucks ass at waiting tables & needs to retire. He is to damn old to be waiting tables at his age. Guy has to be knocking on his 60s. I think they only have two waiters that work there. The old guy & this young kid with a bunch of peach fuzz on his face. But on a good note. Their food is good for the price

I will give that Costra Nostra a shot. I was reffered there by the guys over at Lakeview Mower. I get my equipment worked on all the time over there & im always in the area
