Concert Tickets WTF?

So what is the trick to buying concert tickets these days, it seems like a fucking scam to me, 80% of the seats are bought up and resold at 2x the price.

Pre-sale really. Check with your credit card companies, I get pre-sale emails on many concerts, events, etc.

"Fan Clubs" usually have a pre-sale as well.

If you don't do a presale, then you are going to be camped out on ticketmaster.com or the venue's online web portal when the tickets go on sale and fight with the rest of the big groups for tickets at face value.

For last minute decisions of going to a "sold out" show, I use StubHub. It won't be face value, and may even be 3-4x the price.

As GI JOE said - knowing is half the battle. I use several apps - BandsInTown, SongKick - to notify me of upcoming bands I like after it scans my music library. I also use Facebook by joining the venue and artist pages to know whats coming up, ticket giveaways and special events.

In a nutshell tho - getting good tickets for a good price means you have to arm yourslf with knowledge to get there first. If you wait until a week or two before the show, you're gonna pay for it.

also i have always had luck on craiglist a day or 2 before the show. folks plan change and would rather sell at face value, eat the ticketbastard fees than throw the ticket in the trash.

I saw that taylor swift piece - the one time i actually watched the news it was the most candy coated piece of fluff shit I ever saw.

Cliffs notes - mom buys tickets to a concert from walmart/ticketmaster.
they get to the gate and are turned away because of a mixup (they never said why). Ticketmaster refunded the money. (IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED HERE...BUT NOOOO!)
The kid cried.
Mom, now armed with crying child, went on a sympathy hunt looking for free shit.
Stay-at-Home-Mom radio (KISS-FM) caved like a bitch and is flying the kid and mom anywhere in the country all expenses paid to a future concert of their choice.

I used AXS.com for Darious Rucker this past sunday. It was the best deal I could find, and had a neat feature. You are able to reserve the seats next to you if more people are going. The you're able to email them a link directly to those seats. That way nobody has to front the money for seats then get stuck with them if they back out.
