    I won't go that far

Just me but I think in that situation the right thing for the police to do is tell him not to go, then let him break through and go. I do hope the officer is in the same situation at sometime in his life and realizes what he did to that father and it haunts him. I suppose this could be considered torture. I never wonder why the police suicide rate is high. I wouldn't want the responsibility to make life and death decisions for others in seconds and then second guess yourself for a lifetime.

So yall would rather widow your wife, and let the rest of your 2 children grow up without a father? I'm not saying don't try, but maybe it was past that point in time where that would be possible.

Thats a bold statement without knowing the facts. Now the tazing part is debatable.

Yes. I can't let my child burn to death because I didn't try to save him. I don't think any parent can.

Thats why I would like to know more details. He could have showed up long after that child lost his life. I cant imagine what that father was going through, and its a tough scene for all.

Haha naw. Im not a father myself yet, so I dont think I can understand where these guys are coming from until then. But I do know that myself and every other FF I know would risk our lives to rescue a savable life. I just think theres some very important info missing, and pointing blame at the popo isn't right.

The tasing is ridiculous... But making presumptions based upon unknown circumstances and horribly written article is retarded.

They'd have to stop him. If they let him go, they could be held liable for his death. I don't care for the speculation in that article. Sure, the SAPD is a little knee jerk at times, in it's reactions, but the speculation that he could've saved the kid is just stupid. There's no way some Monday morning quarterback of a journalist could know that.

Speculation is that he could have saved his child's life. Fact is he tried to and was tased by the police who are tasked with serving and protecting the public and as I have repeatedly said, they have no obligation to actually do it. In fact, they can actually prevent you from trying with force.

They were trying to save him, dude, not trying to ignore the baby inside. It's lose-lose for the cop on the scene, and if they can't physically restrain him, what are they to do?

it's simple, tell him not to, then let him. if he dies, they tried to prevent it. his life, his baby.

I understand its a lose lose for the cop. But I don't know how anyone would sleep right at night knowing they kept the father from possibly saving his child's life.

Yeah, perhaps the tazing was a bit much. I just dislike the article in question, because it seems to throw the cops under the bus for the kid dying, like they tazed him off his big wheel in a traffic stop.
