Why would you need to take off the body off the frame???
One of the mechanics said they were putting new cylinder heads on.

I've heard to do many things on that motor that it's required on the newer diesels. They are designed that way to pop off pretty easily from what I understand.

The cab comes off pretty easily. The engine is tucked under the lip of the firewall pretty well and access to the motor is limited. To get the turbo and heads off you really save time by just lifting the body.
Steering shaft, a big wire connection, cooling lines and refrigeration lines and it pops right off.

The rear head bolts are way under the cab, requiring the cab to be pulled

They are designed to be pulled easily from the frame. Easier than dropping the motor from underneath. Not like the unibody mustang

If it's a diesel, I heard there's some kind of filter under there.

Yeah, it only takes like 1.5 hours to lift the whole cab off. Saw one that needed a fuel pump replaced and that was how they do it.
