If you ever were into electric r/c cars the battery packs on my dewalt stuff was very similar. Just source the cell and solder the new ones in. Works for me.

Those impact can be had with the little hex bit thing, but also in 3/8 and 1/2 drive in the more robust models. There are some real wrist twisters out there that with do lug nuts and such. I know of a tow truck guy that has a 24v 1/2 drive he uses on service calls for flats.

I've had great luck with Ryobi One+ 18v tools for around the house and purchased quite a few attachments for it.
The main reason that I chose them is because the batteries will work with 50+ Ryobi tools, including any older model Ryobi tools(which can be purchased dirt cheap). The lithium ion battery will actually increase the output of the older tools as well.
I also purchased a 4ah battery, which too increases output of the newer and older tools.
The standard battery in the impact will produce 1,600in lbs(or 133ft lbs) of torque.

They are on sale now at Home Depot for $99 for the drill, an impact, 2 lithium ion batteries and a charger.

^ Thanks for that info. I am gonna buy one today. Didn't realize the price had come down so much. My batteries are weak and my charger does not work well on hot days so its the perfect time to upgrade.

Plus my old Ryobi is 18v so I will have a spare drill.

I think too many people have faith in Dewalt. I have many Dewalt tools and they are not that great anymore.

Another vote here. I have both of those units....the drill kicks ass, and the impact replaced an old Snap-On 3/8 that I had-had since my dealership days...it beats the shit out of it by comparison.
