  • Boy, 9, Fights Armed Home Invaders, Grabs Gun: Cops

A 9-year-old boy fought back against two robbers who broke into his family's home in Brooklyn Monday, slamming a bedroom door against one suspect's arm so hard that the loaded gun he was holding fell to the floor, police said.

The boy then picked up the weapon and fired shots, scaring off the would-be robbers.

The robbers entered the house on 80th Street in Canarsie at about 6 p.m. and ordered two teenagers inside to get on the floor, according to police.

The only other person in the house was the boy, who was upstairs.

When one of the suspects ran upstairs and tried to get into a second-floor bedroom, the 9-year-old boy slammed the door on the suspect's arm, causing him to drop the gun.

The boy picked up the gun and fired it at the suspect, according to police. No one was hit, but the home invaders quickly ran out of the house.

Police are searching for the suspects. The boy and the teenagers are said to be OK.

    ============================

That little boy should get an award.

It's New York. The boy will be arrested for possessing an illegal firearm with more that 7 rounds in the magazine. The parents will be visited by cps to explain why their son is so violent.

then the parents will be jailed for criminal neglect of a child, and the kid will be put into a mental hospital for displaying childhood violence.

Not believable. The law clearly states you can not have a hand gun, so how would these would-be robbers have one? Doesn't add up.

Well the nine year old missed the bad guys, but didn't hit any innocent by-standers... He is still better than NYPD.

Seems all to concocted to me. I think there's a good probability that the kids were playing with the gun, it went off, and they made up this BS story to stay outta trouble.

Don't forget that he discharged a firearm in the city limits. That's another 5 years in lockup.

                          Let's see:

Illegal possession of a firearm by a minor
Illegal possession of a magazine of over 7 rounds
Discharge of a deadly weapon in city limits
Discharge of a deadly weapon in a reckless manner
                          Child endangerment
                          Neglect
Failure to secure a firearm in the presence of a child
More than likely possession of a stolen firearm
                          Possession of restricted ammunition
                          Noise violation
Unlawful storage of toxic substances (lead from round hitting the ground or a wall)

Anyone think of anything else that family can be hit with in NY?
