  • Bridge collapse in WA state

Crazy I-5 up there is the main north south corridor west of the Cascades. I have been over that bridge a ton of times. It is scary in the video when they talk about 36% of the bridges in that state alone being beyond their design life.

A ton of bridges in the US are in trouble. Age, corrosion, traffic which is more than it was designed for size/weight/etc
    Some cars and a bike...

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

There have been a handful of truckers trying to resolve the problem out west of Abilene. There are crews completely rebuilding two overpass that were clipped(one due to bad weather, the other I'm not sure). And there are at least 4 more overpasses around Midland/Odessa that have been clipped by oilfield traffic, but are still being driven on.

They're saying an oversized load caused it. The pilot car's stick hit an overhead span but they didn't/couldn't radio quick enough or the truck was following too closely to stop in time.

The load hit a beam and started the collapse... and the truck actually made it across as it was falling.

The bridge was built in 1955 and has a sufficiency rating of 57.4 out of 100, according to federal records. That is well below the statewide average rating of 80, according to an Associated Press analysis of federal data, but 759 bridges in the state have a lower sufficiency score.

Lots of sheeple on twitter say it was the Republicans fault for not allowing more stimulus money to be passed out.

              F them.

The $ is there. The problem is the people spending it (not that $ would have stopped a retard driver from doing this)

Back when the bridge in Minneapolis went down it was discovered that funds were divirted from roads and bridges to build a transit center off of Lake Street

It didn't even take an hour for those fools to start with the nonsense
