Oh I read where it said there was no one in the area. In 10 minutes without lights or sirens and keeping an eye out for cops I can be anywhere fairly quickly in anything I'm in. Cops have vehicles designed to move fast, lights that make sure people clear the way for them and dont' have to worry about getting tickets responding at high rates of speed and there was NO ONE that could come to her aid. Aren't cops always on call in emergencies? Fucking pick up the phone and call someone in. They take their cars home, take their weapons home and don't need to put on a uniform to perform their duty.

Or do I have that wrong?
Not all departments have a fleet program (take home cars).

You want police to respond to a domestic out of uniform? I'm sure you'd be the first one to say "I would shoot them because all I saw was a guy with a gun. I didn't know it was a cop." There are plenty of times it would take over 10 minutes to get to a call, on shift, running code 3. Even longer responding from your house after putting your uniform on. Besides that we can't even run code 3 (lights and siren) to a "normal" domestic call.

Yes we are subject to call back in emergencies, at my department anyway. I don't know this particular department's policy.

There are times that our dispatch will broadcast "units to respond". Meaning every officer on shift is on a call. No available units to respond. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights it happens quite often.

Pretty much the whole thing is wrong from my departments standpoint. There are places in Dallas county that running code take you over 15 min to get to. This was a small department to begin with then throw in the fact they've only got 6 officers now...

More than willing to offer my services if they are willing to deputize me. I don't need pay, just a firearm and authority to use it. Policing isn't terribly hard. Sit in car, write tickets. Many cops go their entire careers without pulling a weapon or being threatened. It's not like rocket science or even working for Blackwater. Wear a badge, drive in a city car, sit in the AC and write tickets. If you kiss enough ass, you get promoted. If not, you stay in traffic where you become bitter and ticket people for no front plate.

There'd be a lot of 'shots fired' calls.

I'm sure you are trying to entice 03trublu into twisting off, but you are truly showing your ignorance on the subject. Even if an officer wanted to sit in his car as you say, he still gets calls for service. He responds to the call, no matter what it is. I know, I know, he has no duty to protect and serve

Not sure about other departments, but we test for promotions. I believe all civil service departments are required to test for promotions.

Ah but that's the problem. They didn't respond to calls for service. Thus, the problem.

You can roll your eyes all you like but I'm 100% right. Unless of course, you'd like to do what I keep asking for and prove me wrong.

how can you respond to a call for service if you are already on one? the simple fact is they need/needed more police and dont have it...

You prioritize. If what you're doing doesn't equal what's going on, you drop that and take off. If they need more police, cut a council position and use that money or figure it out. If there was a cop who was doing something that wasn't at the level of a guy kicking in a woman's door to rape her, he needs replaced.

If you don't have the manpower, you don't have the manpower. And please side step the fact that you ramble about things you know nothing about. If an on-duty officer flat out refuses to respond to a call he would get reprimanded, at minimum, most likely fired for dereliction of duty. Once again, this is based on my department.

I wonder what the response time would be if he were breaking into the police evidence locker? The one that has the guns confiscated from people who otherwise wouldn't have committed a crime, or the dope that people grew in their basement for their own use?
No midnight basketball and for fucking sure no multicultural activity center. That place is a Mecca for meth heads and hippie wannabes. The only people who turn out to vote are property owners who are saving their own dime taxwise because they are tired of paying for bullshit social programs. The douchebags from California who moved in there are the ones trying to make it like the place they left, only cheaper. Those fucktards don't realize that the reason Cali is so expensive is because of those programs.

                                THEY don't pay for them...

**edit as for dope and guns both are welcome or used to be. It has gone the other way now dope is more welcome then guns.
