I was 40 or so when I had my (hopefully one and only) kidney stone attack. I was at work, had a slight pain in my lower back. Went up to the head and the pain intensity was doubling by the minute! By the time I got to the restroom, the pain was unbearable, in my back left side and I could barely stand up. I was sweating so much, my tee shirt was (no shit) soaking wet.

I drove myself to the ER in Plano and they ran a dye test and found the stone, in the upper part of my kidney, so it would be awhile for it to travel down the tubes and out. I got some heavy duty pain killer, told to drink a lot of water and went home to wait it out. After a few days of pain coming and going every 3-5 hours, if it had not been for the pain killers, I would have been in worse shape. In my case, I could tell the little booger was slowly traveling down the tubes on my left side, as that is where the pain was. At the hospital, they had given me a thing called a hat, you placed in the toilet to pee into to catch the stone when it plopped out. Well, it kind of did that in my case. I was standing there over the toilet for the umpteenth time and all of a sudden, the pain got worse for a nano-second and then out plopped a tiny little black looking speck amongst the pee. No more pain, no more nothing! Success at last!

Hope this never happens again. I am almost 70 now and over the years when I thought it might be happening again, I would start gulping water like a race horse! I would not wish that pain on anyone!
Pretty much mine to a "T". Got mine at 31? I felt I needed to drink more water. Well....I'm not big on water. So I figured tea was the next closest thing. Chugged tea for 3-4 months. Ended up feeling like a UTI for 3-4 days so I treated with a 100% cran juice regimen (which basically cut the stone lose). Developed an increasing pain on my right side over 30-45 minutes till I was doubled over.

Got to the hospital 45 minutes after that. They ask "on a pain level of 1-10 where are you". Up to that point I didn't know what pain really was. I knew I wasn't dying and didn't want to feel like a pussy so I said.....6? Wrong answer! Sat my dumbass out in the waiting room for 2 more hours doubled over and puking every 30 minutes. Finally made it on to a hospital bed and was given what they said "targets kidney stone pain". That shit was the most incredible thing ever!

Long story short. The Doc's first question is..."drink much tea"? Well yeah! Come to find out; the oxalate (or some shit) in tea is one of the number one creators of stones (fuck me, right?). Was sent home with a $3,500 bill, Flowmax, antibiotics and a "healthy" prescription of Hydrocodone.....which lasted 3.5 days. Had to refill it cause the stone didn't pass for 5 no-sleep, puke filled painful days. Didn't bother analyzing the stone. Shit was self inflicted. Moral of the story: Tea is the Devil. Water is your friend. And answer 10. For the love of, God! That shit's a MF'ing 10!

Well, i thought my stone was gone. I guess not. I'm in excruciating pain. Double dose of hydrocodone isn't doing anything. I'm puking every fifteen minutes because of this shit. Goddamn it

Damn Jeremy. If you cant pass it quick get to the er for fluids and meds until it passes. I know the pain bro.. and unless you can trap one for analysis to figure out what it is, you'll likely never outgrow them. Welcome to adulthood :-)

I had my first one shortly after my 18th birthday. Then up until 26 they happened just about every summer. Get ready, Jeremy. LOL.

That's illegal! Mine was actually a combination of lots of dr pepper/sweet tea and constant dehydration
