My 08 burns a quart every 1k miles. From what I have read its a common problem on the 08-10 3.8l. No one seems to why and not all motors due it. Chrysler has said that a quart per 1k miles is acceptable. It worries me a bit since I'm not original owner, so no lifetime warranty. Mine was doing it at 46 k when I got it. I just make sure I keep oil in it. Not sure where it goes. No smoking, engine is spotless with no leaks, and it runs perfectly.

Well rest assured it looks like that ^^ inside. Chrysler said 1qt per 1k was excessive and replaced the motor, just fyi.

Maybe they have changed their mind a bit since more are starting to fail. I love mine but I am considering trading it for a 2011 before it messes up.

Was hers running bad? Or did they just replace it for the oil consupmtion alone? I was told early on that they were only replacing the motors if they failed, not just for excessive oil consumption.

there may be a TSB now. I know the altima 2.5 didnt get motors early, but then they started to later on.

Just oil consumption, the motor didn't have any issues.
