  • Scars

We all have a few scars, some from prisons and some from bars.

I have several on my left index finger, and occasionally one of them starts burning and feels like I have a paper cut or a splinter. I can't ever see anything that looks unusual or any swelling or redness. I assume it is due to a nerve ending cut or something. One of them just started to burn, and it made me think about it.

My dad had a running bet that I was going to cut this finger off at some point, it seems like if I ever get cut, it's on that finger, and I have a couple of decent looking scars on it.

Am I alone, or does anyone else get these phantom pains on old injuries?

I get weird phantom pangs in my left flank where the kidney was yanked out. Especially if I've dropped a couple of pounds. That is the only one I would call phantom. Back neck and shoulder are all just still in pain from the last decade, and never went away.

brent has way too many std's to be able to narrow it down that far.

My left leg twitches often. Generally when I am laying down and it can wake me up from sleep. Had a femural nail stuck in it about 3 years ago and a few ankle reconstructions over the years. The scars there from surgery and the ones on my right shoulder from another surgery burn every once in a while.

I’ve got a forever numb finger from me putting a knife through it years ago and I’ve got a self inflicted brand on my arm from my teens. I’d use metal coat hangers to burn myself with

I took a baseball ball to the right eye, laser surgery has resulted in decreased night vision, slower focus, eye lid that hangs a touch lower and weird floaters/macular scarring that is present in my vision and weird headaches that stem from that eye.

Dislocated ankle gives me nightmares in rain storms (that motherfucker is screaming right now!).

Formerly broken L5 that slips out of place. I can work it back in and when it goes it feels like a dislocated shoulder going back in with similar relief.

I am scarred up pretty good. One that is 2 inches long that goes through the middle of my bellybutton, four on my ankle from getting my foot caught next to a hot muffler, about ten different scars from boils (go immunosuppressors), a bunch of misc knife scars, and lastly a hydrocele repair scar.

Never had any phantom pain off from any of them.

I have a scar from ear to ear across the top of my head and one about a 2" circle from the blood bag. A scar from my left foot all the way up to my growing. But the only nerve scars that give me nerve problems is my left foot and its all one big scar. Just don't be a puss.

I find the best way to get over one STD is to pile another one on top of it.

Relevant to the topic at hand, yes. I get itching and burning in the scar on my face, and the scar on my chest. Both are due to having skin cancer removed. I don't get any sensation from any other scar I have, and I've got tons of them.

I have a number of scares from years of biking, hockey, and turning wrenches.

But my memorable ones are my index fingers.

About 20 years ago, I nearly cut off one of them. I still remember the nurse coming in and saying, "you're in luck, we have a good doctor today." I responded with "shouldn't you have good doctors everyday?"

Apparently they had a plastic surgeon doing his community service that day. No real phantom pains but it does stiffen up every once in a while.

Second one was about 1.5 years ago. Some of you may remember.

Spent yesterday afternoon in the ER. My 66 Ranchero bit me. Lost the tip, nail, a good amount of tissue and shattered the end of the bone. Here are links to pics. I didn't want anyone getting butt hurt for posting pics. http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j183/homealone1972/posting/122911143536.jpg http://i80

It's still hypersensitive and really can't use it for much where pressure on the tip is involved.

Lots of scars on my hands and knuckles from football and fighting. 1 long scar from my inside elbow to my wrist from a knife fight. The ones that hurt the most are my knuckles. Broke my metacarpal bones in my right fist from a blow to someone's jaw. That right hand feels like it is on fire when wx like this rolls through. Has to be nerve damage.

The 14 inch scar on my right hip from reconstructive surgery that happened 18 years ago after a car wreck goes numb daily, along with the 'pins and needles', etc etc.

Got a nice one from a dog bite on my arm, one on my lip where I went down playing Ice hockey, and another good sized one where a runner on third tried to steal home on a wild pitch and his cleat split my head open after I dove to tag him out (took 18 staples to close). I got him, got up and showed the ump.I still had the ball with blood all over my face and promptly passed the fuck out! Lol
