I just got back from OKC. Took a enterprise truck up there to move all my brothers shit from college back home. We left right when the tornado touched down in Reno. I wasn't worried but my entire family wouldn't stop fucking calling me which was pissing me off LOL.

Pretty sure you're thinking of reed timmer, who is awesome. He does get pretty excited. That's adrenaline of a life threatening situation and something you live to do at the same time.

Maybe so. I put myself in that same situation at night in 1994 while taking instruction from a storm chaser as we approached Beltline/35 chasing the Lancaster tornado. He hydroplaned at Wintergreen and crashed into the guardrail but told me to keep going with my camcorder running.....driving blind. I ran into the Lancaster tornado between Pleasant Run and Beltline as it crossed 35. I'm lucky I didn't die. My car took significant damage. I was young, dumb enough to follow this guys instructions without realizing what I was getting myself into, and HE had nothing to fear since he was already crashed out. There is such a thing as TOO close. I know that all too well. I've followed/chased a few since then but ONLY in daylight...and from MUCH further away.

Myself and my chase partner were overtaken by that same wedge tornado today.... it looked very similar and I thought we were going to die. Anyone casting judgment on his actions should rethink, as being in that situation is quite different than seeing it on youtube. The xterra took quite a bit of external damge in regards to paint chips and dents, took out one of our windows and took our anemometer. The last registered reading we got form the anemometer before it was ripped off was 159MPH winds, and we spent another 5 minutes trying to outrun it after that. Then we were almost hit by lightning. Craziest chase day I have ever had. Wow. Pictures and video up tomorrow
