I was at the airport in OKC yesterday when this storm formed. From the time I parked the car, checked my luggage, and made it through security was 15 minutes at most (one of the great things about flying out of here). In that time, it went from bright and sunny to this:
Within a few minutes, they evacuated the entire terminal and everyone packed into the tunnel that connects the parking garage to the terminal.
By this point, the tornado had already formed and was on the ground heading toward Moore. It's amazing how quickly it popped out of nowhere. Absolutely heartbreaking for those affected and I can't even begin to think about the kids in those schools.
For what it's worth, we have a 3x8 storm shelter in the garage floor. It seats 10 people and is worth every penny of the ~$3000 I paid for it. I travel extensively for work and I need to know my wife and kids have a safe place to be.
