            I don't think putting up a fence on both sides of a levy is advisable.

            A friend has property down on the trinity river and there is no fencing allowed on/near the levy. I'm sure there's a reason.

                    Here's a couple different reasons (possibly)

                    State regulations come into play as you cant obstruct the right of way to a public water source. New Braunfuls wishes they could so could get rid of the tubers

                    Army Corps of Engineers have specific regulations regarding access, and developments along public waterways, especially levees they maintain

                    A more simple reason is that a fence placed improperly along the levy could cause erosion, or a defect in the levy which could lead to failure
