I guess it depends on your job. If you're stuck in an office of 3000 cubicles and you're stacked in ass-to-elbow, I can understand. Unless I'm death-bed sick, I want to get out. I can feel like shit and still be reasonably productive. I'm not around other people in a closed-up environment that much.

I've been at my current gig 5 years next month and I've never taken a sick day. I'm generally really healthy though. The handful of times I've considered calling in were all hangovers.
