The Army has the tech, the equipment and it is field portable but yet these same camps get hit day after day by one can only assume the exact same assholes. With CRAM they can return fire with anything from a 60mm mortar to a 155mm howitzer or they can call it into on station air assets. But nope, get in the bunkers for the next 15 minutes till it is over. We will meet back tomorrow for the same nonsense.

So, yes, this is good advancement in tech BUT it will be fielded to bases that don't need it and nor will they use it.

I spent the better part of my first years out here basically auditing the Army on how they defend and with what. This would be put in Bagram where who gives a shit if they are glassing the camp. It won't make it's way to Tillman where it matters and could make a difference. Part of my time I drove convoys in Kabul so we could get from one base to the other, I reported no fewer than a dozen times "hey, white corolla, plate number #### was filming the convoy" or "guy on roof top across from ECP with camera or cell phone looked to be taking notes". Never once did anyone really give a shit. "uh, okay. (back to video games)"

This will lead to advancement elsewhere that is helpful but if they say "oh, we need this billion to fund it to keep the troops safe" they are full of shit.

hahaha, as Marines you know we are cannon fodder anyways. We just happen to be very hard to shoot and very good at shooting back. But fodder nonetheless. If I told a Marine unit that folks were videoing their ECP, they would be painting their faces black and low crawling across the street by the platoon full as soon as the sun went down. The Army likes to sit back and see what happens next. Can't say I blame them too much but they sure do like to kick buzz words around like "actions of violence".

Back to the OP. I see this being a better counter sniper set up for urban asset protection such as POTUS etc. FOB? No.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.
