10 reported tornadoes tonight and a gas explosion in Granbury that they can't confirm if it happened before or after the tornado hit. This is crazy.

Lea, I can here you over hear.

My prayers go out to everyone, this is some scary and stupid shit. Makes me want to get in my car and go back to California.
You were just young and didn't pay attention. I knew about the storms because my dad owns a roofing company. Hail storms and tornados are nothing new to this area. There are some homes we have roofed 4 times in 27 years of being in business because of hail. Hell I did one house two years in a row once because they got hit by hail two consecutive years in a row.

It's obummers fault, or it's just tornado season here in Texas. I was actually saying just the other day I can't believe we have been this far into the season without any severe storms.

My dad was a Keller weather watcher back in the day for Harold Taft. He would take me out and show me stuff until things got dark or serious then he would send me in to my mom. At that point, my mom would distract my ADHD ass so I had no clue what was going on outside.

*edit* and hell, at least we can predict the tornadoes somewhat. Cali can't give you a heads up on earthquakes. Fuckabunchathat!
have u been in a earthquake? Its a fucken cake walk as long as you arent under a bridge. lol I was in the 1989 SF one, second largest recorded in history, and I was playing soccer... ball was moving by itself like it was remote controlled. Lasted about 15 seconds... fuck this anticipation and getting wiped out by a tornado shit.

Also, my dad has an old Plymouth he bought in 1972. It sat outside in TX almost it's entire life until 1988 when we moved to California... want to guess how many hail dents it has? NONE... my dad said it never hailed here in the 80s... dunno why EVERY time it rains now its a god damn hail storm. I got hit 6 times in one week last June. I think it's global warming, weather is all bonkers... reminds me of the Day After Tomorrow...

Maybe, I was here in the late 90s, and again for good in the early 2ks... it hailed one time in 2005 a few weeks after I got my new TL... other than that, this hail is too frequent compared to before imo.

Weather patterns that change every few years (El Nino/La Nina) coupled with the solar maxim/minimum. The El Nino cycle is usually every 5 years, and the solar maxim is 11 years. Every so often, each cycle can be severe and extended, or extremely mild and short (or any combination), and these extremes can sometimes combine to make an extreme rare period of weather. Combine that with the fact that 'weather happens' and rare "100 year storms" occur.

Or you can just blame Bush and say it is 'global warming'.

Research 'Mayfest hailstorm 1995'. It is (was?) the most expensive hailstorm in US history, and the 7th (?) most expensive hailstorm in the world. Over 1 billion dollars damage, from a single hailstorm that only lasted a few hours.

will do, glad I was in Cali in 95. it never rains harder than a fine mist there, and doesnt hail.

i dont doubt it, but i do bet that most the hail damage has happened in the last 10 years... thats all i was getting at. Stevo seems to be in the ball about the explanation, I guess I will just have to own only one car for a while or build a shop somewhere.

Hail doesn't hit every where when it hits. Hail hits spots, sometime neighborhoods only. I've been on a house that was trashed and the neighbor didn't have one hit on the roof. Trust me I can name years and months of huge storms in the time line you just named. Hell in 2003 we had one of the largest hail storms Dallas ever had. We did 1.7 million a month in roofs that year. The mid 2000's there weren't really any but now we are actually getting them like we used to. Trust me I grew up in a business that revolves around this weather. This isn't anything new, this is what is was like in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.
