neti pot does not work if your nasal passages are inflamed already from allergies, it will only help mitigate them. aka if your nostrils are already closed because of inflammation then its too late. Neti pots are preventative. Also I much prefer using the saline bottles, neti pots are slow.

Your best bet is to goto an allergist, have them find out what your allergies are and either figure out how to remove them from your life, or to get on something stronger like a nasal steroid ( rhinocort ).

i've been so fucked up the last few weeks. the only thing that works on me is benadryl,
but it makes to damn sleepy. and i will never again take a CORTISONE shot. i've always had bad alerallergies my whole life, in when i was nineteen years old. i had a bad alerallergie attack.
went to the doctor. he gave me the shot about two weeks later i was experiencing bad
hair loss, as an allergic reaction to the cortison so fuck going to see doctors. i haven't seen one since that was in 1995,

i've been sick plenty of times. black market penicillin FTW.

take some alavert, and then place a wet washcloth over your nose and mouth and breathe through it for a little while.

I bought the neti pot but also some spray saline. I tried the saline and flushed it out real good. I haven't used the pot yet. The saline is $10 a can though so long term I think the pot is better. I am going on 11 hours now with no pain or pressure and have not had to take anything for the pain. No allergy symptoms either. I think I am going to keep it up. Its a weird sensation at first, but it sure beats the discomfort otherwise.

Just use table salt for the saline in the Neti pot, and go ahead and gargle with warm salt water, while you're at it.

Find a smaller dose, diphenhydramine is in a lot of stuff, typically anything over 25MG will make you tired, I've seen 10MG doses before and they work great albeit you have to take them every 4-8 hours.

I don't see how people can argue that the neti pot works better than the saline bottles, but I have two co workers that swear by it. For maintenance, I use the saline bottle every night with 1 packet. When it starts to get bad, I'll do it AM and PM with 2 packets (hypertonic solution) followed by Afrin for no more than 3 days. I also saw an allergist for years, so I could know what I was allergic to. I consulted with two ENT's. One of them wanted to go in and reduce the turbinates with a blade, and the other wanted to do nasal coblation (where they basically shrink the turbinates). I went with the second one and I'm not really sure it did much good. They did correct a badly deviated septum while they were in there, which helped with me being more stopped up in one nostril vs. the other. All in all, I'm not sure the allergy shots helped at all, and the nasal coblation was eh... One of the problems with cutting the turbinates is that they can cut too much which affects sense of smell, the ability to filter/clean air, and the ability to maintain proper humidity. The problem with nasal coblation is that sometimes the tissue grows back and you're at square one. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If I'm on Claritin D and Afrin at the same time, that's really how I'd like my sinuses to feel, but I guess it just isn't in the cards for me.

I dont think it works better or worse, its just with the saline rinse bottle I can force the water instead of gravity feeding it through my nose. I can also put it in the microwave to disinfect it.

I had my turbinates reduced, didn't really do shit because they just grew back, they will grow to fill the gap if you have too much air coming in. The septoplasty helped alot with breathing.
