Sounds stupid but in regards to shaving... Do you have to shave every day? I only ask because I break out real bad if I try and shave every day, and I don't have sensitive skin.

Second, after boot and AIT what happens next? Do you automatically start a tour overseas? Do you go to your duty station till your deployed?

Third, what determines where you're stationed? Can you request a specific place?

yes you have to shave every day. you can go to the doc and he can determan if you need a shaving profile, if you get that it's ever other day.

after BCT and AIT you will get 1-2 weeks to go home. if you do the home town recruting it's 1 month. after that you'll go to your duty station. could be state side or over seas depending on your MOS.

I know guys here on post that shave twice a day. It really sucks.

I am not sure if you have a choice the first time, but I do know that you can request your top three choices of where you would like to be stationed on subsequent assignments. My sis and her ex requested Fairbanks AK and have been up there for their entire marriage (now ended after 13 years, Thank God!) minus a year stint at Fort Sill. He did 2 tours in Iraq, a 10 month tour in Japan, and 1 year in Korea during that time, however these were all hardship tours (of course Iraq was!) without his family with him.

"Say Sarge, I gets da bumps" (all the brotha's with the beards)

              and my other favorite

"My feeets is soooo" (all the brotha's wearing running shoes in uniform)

But that is the difference between the Army and the Marines. The Marines will make you use that awful smelling stuff called Magic Shave and a plastic knife to scrape with. No bumps but your face will smell like ASS.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

                What's home town recruiting?

If your stationed overseas, say Germany, is that for a certain amount of time? Or is that your entire enlistment?

If my MOS is infantry, I'm stationed state side, and I'm not currently deployed then what would I be doing day to day until I'm deployed?

Is there a listing of what MOS are typically stationed where? I have all sorts of interests and I won't lie, it'd be nice to be stationed at Fort Hood because it's close to home. So I could potentially pick an MOS that's typically stationed at Fort Hood to have a better chance of being stationed there?

if you are infantry your going down range. aka afganastan no question. youll be their for 16-18 months. you will more than likely end up at hood for sure. they send the most people out.

home town recruting is you are the recruters bitch for a few hours a day and you try and get people to sign up if you get them too you make money.

i didn't do the home town recruting thing cause by the time i got out of BCT i was so pissed with my recruter i wanted to kill him..lol

                  but it's all good.

work of advise for you. pass you PT tests, and don't get hurt. the army has a high recruting rate right now and they will replace you. trust me i know. i got injered in AIT and they told me im broken and no good to them and med chaptered me out.

Just curious, if I'm interested in Ranger school, is it better to get a RIP contract or to go in, get some time under my belt, and then apply to Ranger school?

i think with ranger school you have to first me in. then apply for it and they will check out your info and probably call you on it..

if you want to be a ranger go airborn they are the bad mother fuckers. get airborn in your contract before you leave for BCT. it's the only chance to get in. and if you haven't been through meps yet you will have that and a seciond fisical for airborn school.

incase you don't know airborn school is 2 extra weeks of training after you get out of BCT. and is alot of fun. get your wings. it's the way to go. the airborn guys are tight group of people and will back each other up for any thing.

If you want to be a ranger, do it right off the bat. Once you get to your unit who knows if you'll have time to go before a deployment. And wouldn't you rather be deployed with better trained guys?

Dont lie, you got kicked out due to atrocious spelling and grammar. When I went through jump school, it was 3wks...but that was 20+ years ago. I didnt need a Ranger contract when I went through, but nowadays everyone wants to be Rambo so you may need one. Dont let the recruiter talk you into something you dont want to do. Demand the contract and dont sign if he gives you shit. Theres a guy on here that was a recruiter at one ppint. Harrison something or other. Shoot him a PM for some tips. You can call me if you have questions on stuff like jump school, RIP/Ranger School, selection, etc.
You better get your ass in shape now.

Buddy of mine just went through jump school, and I could have sworn it was almost a month. He isn't airborne though, it was a requirement of his new MOS which was PsychOps.

I know you don't have kids, but he was previously infantry, and did 3 tours in Iraq. Very taxing on his family (married with two kids, he also supports his mother).
