I just tried it and noticed the ad section at top got a little bigger. And it says clearly that if you register (or log in) you won't see as many ads. So again, what is the big deal? Why wouldn't you stay logged in?

Jared, for me it was the clear fucking jose took on the deal, basically chris sold out from under him. I'm not sure what the outcome is as of yet, becuase I've been told he's going to talk to KJ, and make a decision, then talk to Tyler if that's what they decide.

For the most part it's the sale of the site that sparked the fire that started over there which pissed most people off, the thing with the ads were just fueling the fire further. Maybe I'm speaking for myself, maybe others agree with me but my biggest reason for not wanting to be apart of the new ownership is the fact that it was sold to a corporate company. Typically corporate companies have their own agenda which is evident and they won't care who they run off. You may ask me, what makes you say this... just look at the list of forums they own, it looks pretty evident they're about quantity and not quality. Besides the fact a number of us have been members over on some of those other forums they own and weren't happy with them. You take a close knit group of friends on a privately owned forum and sell them to a corporation and you're eventually going to run into problems. I think many people saw the change coming and backed out.

Sounds like a bunch of paranoid silliness to me. It's a message board. If you can read threads and post with your friends, who cares who the owner is?

Again, I like Jose, and if he really got screwed out of money over this, then that's a different deal.

The other stuff seems insignificant. So why not keep it at that? What's the point in all the talk about corporate shit and Canada and an extra ad at the top of the page? Heck, all that talk, and even the creation of this board, just seems to belittle what happened to Jose (if he indeed got screwed). If he didn't, then the whole thing was blown way out of proportion. But whatever. Maybe Jose and the dude who made this board will work it all out and these discussions will end. Maybe he'll make his own; I'll be there. Maybe we can have both. I enjoyed going back and forth when Truestreet and even DFWLS1 were in full swing. Kept things fresh.

It's more than just the ads, for me at least.

There have been issues of unnecessary censorship on their other sites because it went against their corporate views. They come in saying nothing will change, yet within hours of being handed the keys they had began implementing corporate policy/agenda.

If you read through the announcement thread, it starts with Chris saying he turned over management/maintenance of the site to the autoguide, not ownership. Shortly thereafter, the corp admin chimes in and backs up what Chris said along with the "nothing will change" line. If you continue reading the admin states that they bought the entire site from Chris and 25-30 posts later the admin is back to the "we are just here to manage" line.

If Jose has a problem regarding the sale of the site, he has to resolve it with Chris. It is none of my business.

I have only been around the site for a few years,and honestly it was always my assumption that Chris owned it and Jose was just the #1 moderator/administrator. This event has brought to light that there was some type of agreement between Chris and Jose. Most likely nobody knows the details of that other than those two. Although I'm sure a lot of the more animated old members will pipe up with something they recall hearing over a beer in 2001 and spill it as gospel.

I like Jose and wish him the best in whatever he chooses to do.

One thing I do know is that there is so much speculation and here-say being thrown around that it has made day 2 of this site almost as bad as the Canadians walking into the old site.

This is the bottom line for me. Whatever happened - it's between jose and chris to work out. It appears that jose got fucked, although none of us know the details. And it's none of our business.

Now, addressing the new management at the old site, - as has been pointed out by others - they have started out by posting LIES. Their lies + excessive ads + eventual corporate bullshit as seen on the other sites they run - tells you what is eventually going to happen on the old site. Corporations like to run everything the same way. The free wheeling nature of dfwstangs will not be tolerated. It doesn't fit into their corporate standards. Think "the corral" here - it's gonna be just like that site.

And i think that free wheeling nature is exactly why the site grew, and why most of us joined it in the first place.

Some of you go ahead and butter up the new owners, but expect the hammer to start swinging on monday.

The main, unforgivable loss to me - is that the board is no longer controlled by one of us. It is run at the whim of some canadian sitting in a corporate office somewhere, sipping a molsen. It is not run by a local car guy that you can go hang out with, or buy a beer for.
