Well it's the STAAR test now but you are on the right track. "Teaching to the Test" is bad. Most schools use a product called CSCOPE that is full of handouts and worksheets. The teacher basically becomes a facilitator. BTW CSCOPE was designed to keep districts aligned to the test.

I remember when it was first TAAS, and I hated the teachers that just teaches what was in the test so that way they could get a better rating which probably means a raise. I had a few teachers actually do more than teach the test, and went farther and I think I learned more in those classes. The education system has become a joke.

On a side note, good for the kid. She even had lazy responses to him.

Just watched the video, notice he was the only white kid in the class. Stay classy Duncanville.
that sucks about long, he was a grumpy dude but was actually pretty funny when he wasn't pissed about us lighting the shop on fire or always breaking things.

one time somehow the gas tank on a car got lit on fire and he got so pissed cause everyone ran inside instead of helping him put it out. i was in hensley's class at the time and we just saw smoke billowing from one of the bays.

They were talking about this on the radio this morning. All I thought how true this is as of lately.

I was frustrated as hell at the incompetence and busy work displayed by many of my high school teachers. I can only imagine what it's like almost 20 years after I graduated.

Just realize that in those 20 years, standardized tests and student attendance are even more so pivotal factors in a school's budget allotment from the Gov.
