Which tv service

I have Dish Network and love it. I had Uverse before that and while it had a bunch of cool features, the HD picture quality was sub-par. The audio/video guys that did my new house said that the best to worse on picture quality is - Fios, DirecTV, Dish Network, Uverse and then TWC.

+1 for Fios if you can get it. I have zero complaints about Dish, but I'd drop them in a heartbeat if I could get Fios.

Same here. We thought about switching and actually had Uverse installed, but after about 4 days, we ditched it and kept dish. Their DVR is the best there is. That alone will have me staying with dish. We pay $130/month for all channels, HD, one regular box and one DVR box with 4 TV's.

edit: let me elaborate, if you can get fios go with fios. I can't stand dish/directv (personal preference) so uverse comes in close second.

Like it's been said, go with Fios of you can get it. If not, go with U-Verse. I've had it since it was first available in my area nearly 4 yrs ago. There were a few glitches here and there at first, but all has been good for quite some time. The HD wasn't quite as good when it first came out, but it is up there with all the higher ranked services now in my opinion. I had Dish Network for years before that and got tired of realignment, problems during storms, programming problems, DVR problems, etc etc... U-Verse has some nice features and enhancements too.

The only thing I watch live is sports and news anyways. Everything else is recorded in HD and watched. My U-verse HD blows away what I had with Dish and the thing I hated with Dish was the service interruptions with bad weather.

Just wandering what the issue is with Uverse. You can watch on five diff channels like you said in your house. Plus you can DVR last I herd two HD channels at once and four non-hd channels at once as well.

It wasn't as great as they made it seem. I can't remember the details, but it was something like you could record 2 HD shows at the same time but you could only watch 1 or 2 non-HD shows at the same time or something similar. There was always 1 or 2 people (at least) who weren't able to watch TV or we missed recordings.

This was probably about 8 months ago or so. They may have made some improvement by now.

I have been kicking around the idea of cutting tv service all together for quite a while. I think I am going to do it for a month or so to see how we handle it with bunny ears and all.

Uverse has been good to us for the past few months and the internet is pretty good too.
