I've never understood anyone that would pay good money for a signature, or signed item. I barely understand getting autographs in the first place, other than having a memento from the experience. I'd rather have a picture with them than anything, and of course there is no value in that.

For future reference.. I have heard "autograph experts" say on several occasions that you are better off (value-wise) to get something not typically signed by them. For example, a golf glove signed by a golfer < a football signed by the same guy. Increases the rarity of the object.

The other big factor with autographs is supposed to be how many items the person signed regularly, for obvious reasons. And if the person is still living, and autographing stuff on a regular basis, I would expect the value to be nominal. An obvious exception is stuff owned / used by them.
