Are you disputing that you have no obligation to actually serve and protect? That if a crime is happening in front of you, that you have no obligation to do anything and citizens can do nothing when you fail to do your job?

It's the entire police system. With police refusing to respond to calls and instead being focused on speed traps instead of answering calls for assistance, there's an issue. You're making it a point not to address Warren v DC

My point was that you quoted him and then proceeded to totally avoid his comment, was my point really that hard to comprehend?

In general, if someone has to resort to putting pictures or smiles on their post, they are saying nothing but "Oh, look, I'm trying to be nice and funny! Let's not address serious stuff." You quoted me, answer the question officer.

I think he is only referencing this particular instance. I can agree with a lot of what you're saying, but if there was truth to this one and the dude doing the work did not get the call - how is it the actual cop's fault?

I may have missed it - but I don't think he's arguing that is job is to actually "protect" anyone. (at least how I define it) He is only arguing that the response was slow due to poor communications internally.

Understand, I hate the response time of police any time I've had to call them for something. It's one of a 1000 reasons why I support citizens being able to take care of themselves. Just in this particular case, I think you're arguing something blindly. (Again, I'll admit I may have misunderstood or missed something)

I'd like to think any person in a position to help another would do so just out of decency. And I don't think many cops would want to miss out on the legal target practice these guys could have provided. 911 is a joke around here.

It's a joke everywhere unless it's a cop calling for assistance. I have been told 911 help was a couple hours away when I can make the trip into town in 10-15 minutes tops doing the speed limit. Heaven forbid they pull cops from writing tickets and sitting on the side of the road looking intimidating on their cell phones and actually have them answering fucking calls.

(Venting at this point, bad news and looking at constructive outlet.)

You guys don't have a freaking clue of public service. Why don't you put in an application and give it a try?

Just making a valid point. If you don't like it, you can GFY.

Just another whiner complaining about something but doing nothing about it...

You're dodging what I am saying. I'll make it Barney level for you:

Do you, as a cop, have a legal obligation to protect citizens? If you fail to do so, do they have any recourse against you?

No, because I'm honest enough to know that power goes to my head and I go on power trips. You can duck and dive there Matt, but you're not answering the question. Do I need to post it up yet again?

                              Should I say yes?

And then you can again quote that case you've already cited.

                              That's really fucking intelligent Frosty......

You, like a few others, haven't taken me up on that ride along. What's the matter, scared I might actually help someone???
