  • Old push button shifters

I am looking for what cars/trucks/vans came with the old automatic push button shifters. I have a 1960 F100 that I just put a 2V 5.4 in with the MOD6 MSD and the Edelbrock carb intake. I also have a turbo kit that will go on it sooner or later (with low boost). I dont want a floor mounted shifter and want to build something other than the norm.....I saw that the 59 Jag had a small slide handle that would select gears, I know some old Chry came with them. If anyone knows a few others please let me know. If you guys know where I can get one would be even better.

    Thanks,

    Robb

Chrysler used them up into the mid sixties as well, but you probably already know that.

Mopar 1956-1965. There are a lot of variations for different models.

Get ready to have some fun hooking that up to something that didn't come with it. Each gear button has it's own cable.

Mopar in 1955 had a dash-mounted shift lever deal, kinda cool. I'm 99% sure I have one of these in my garage if you want it.

Edsels had pushbuttons in the steering wheel.

Yeah....just dont know where to find a salvage yard to go "dig" for them. I am also trying to find a few pix so I can see what would look at home in the 60 F100 dash.

Man, all of those pictures are great, Danny. Cars had so much more character back then.

Yeah I might. I definitely... did. I'll dig around and see if I can find it. It won't be complete. I'm fairly sure it's just the bezel, shifter base, and stalk. The rest is up to you.

PS - there are a couple of electronic pushbutton shifters out there that have hit the market over the past few years. Might look into one of those, and it would fit the restomod thing you got going there too.

TCI makes a tiptronic controller for computer controlled transmissions, including the new automatic for Mustangs.
