We only have the one kiddo, and a dog that we take with us on trips, so we don't really need a ton of room, IE Tahoe, Expedition, etc. Their roominess, or lack thereof, was one of my concerns because I'm 6'1" and my little girl, who is 11, is already as tall as her momma.

That mileage is impressive. The times that we have checked them out at the State Fair I was impressed with them. They do seem to be pretty nice. It's just hard to get an idea of a vehicle from only sitting in it a short period of time.
The steering is a bit numb. It's not gonna be a performance vehicle by any stretch. However the ride very nice for the size of the vehicle.

I'm 6'2" and have no problems sitting in the front driver or passenger seat. The back seat is fine as well. The rear seat slides back and forth. Just slide it all the way back.

I bought my wife and Equinox (LTZ)and man I gotta tell you....it's no Escalade but getting 29 mpg on the hwy vs 13 is absolutely the best! It cost me 55 dollars to fill the tank to boot.
Doing enough racing for 99% of the board!

The wife doesn't need a "performance vehicle" type of steering, so I'm sure she'd be fine driving it. It will be such an upgrade from what she is driving now I don't think she would care if it steered like a covered wagon. LOL

I haven't checked your thread in a while, so I was kind of curious what you ended up buying for the wife. It's good to hear about the fuel mileage. How does she like the car overall so far ?

Go to terrian forums and read about the Fuel in oil issues with the 4 cylinder engines. I have a 2011 v6 terrain . Haven't had any issues , rides smooth but lacks power and the trans is very shift happy and can be annoying .the new 3.6 v6 is a nicer engine with better gas mileage .

I have an 09 Tahoe LTZ and she has the 11 Terrain SLT2, its pretty nice. Same as my Tahoe, just smaller. I agree about the steering. Gets way better gas mileage than the Tahoe.

Can you tighten up the steering box?

Have you looked at an Acadia? Aren't these 2 similar?

That's what I was thinking of, I think it's the same.

Confirmed, they have an Acadia not a terrain.

I know but I couldn't help myself. There are 2 kinds of people that live around DFW those of us who have had a vehicle stolen and the rest of you that will.

Acadia is the Terrain's slightly bigger brother, same as the Chevy Traverse versus Equinox.

In relation to size/price they go....Terrain--Acadia--Yukon

We have had a couple Equinoxes come in to the shop. Apparently the 4 bangers love to kill their motors due to unkeyed crank angle reluctor rings. Also they have issues with the electric power steering.
They do get good mileage though. Wish I could help with the Terrain but never been in one or had one in the shop.
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
