I think I did pretty good on the deal. I owed 24,516 on the car.
They gave me 22,000 on the trade in, even though it needed a new windshield, there were 3 hail dents on the hood and roof (small ones), and a few deep scratches - 1 of them a foot long on the rear drivers side door, which I had never noticed before (Will need touchup)
They knocked 2.5 K off the sticker price.
They gave me 3.9% financing vs. the 4.9% they initially wanted to stick me with (See Note)**
I transfered my 7 year 100K warranty over to the new car and rolled the slight increase into the monthly rate..
Got gap insurance.
Kept my luggage carrier and rack
Kept my all weather floor mats
My payments went up 120 a month, but 140 was the limit I at which I would walked away..
The whole experience was a pretty good one, and once again I had a cool salesman that told me all about the car's features and never once pressured me to buy the car, while I beat on it pretty hard during the test drive.
I got a hell of alot more car for the than the one I walked away from - the platform, suspension, motor, drivetrain are completely different, and the different driving modes are distinctly different from each other as far as throttle response and lag time, which isn't bad at all anyway if I stay in the right gear while on the way through the shifts. It's a bit different due to having a close ratio 6 versus the 5 speed.
I've yet to try the different traction assist modes, but I sidestepped the clutch at 4K and instead of bogging a little (with traction control on), it just hooked and went, then headed straight for the limiter- which came quicker, but so was the shift with the shorter throw shifter...
Anyway, the numbers we started with were rediculous, but in the end I got pretty much what I wanted all the way around.
I'll take some pics tomorrow.
***My credit actually took a hit last year due to two credit cards
(One being a SAMs Club credit card I forgot I even had) being late.
The Sams membership automatically renewed and charged against the credit card, and I didnt realize I had a bill from Sams, there it sat at home while I was on the road, and became 60 days late. The other, my Home Depot card, I thought was paid off, stopped getting online notifications about bill due, then got locked out of the site for excessive retries, then said fuck it cuz I thought it was paid off - caused one reporting agency to go all the way down to 680. They tried to use the low score to guage the rate - which was gonna be 4.9%. I said no way... they ended up using the higher agency score of 725 and I got the same 3.9% rate I was currently paying on my WRX.
