  • 2012 Corvette Grand Sport TRADE for 2013 Shelby?

I've had the vette for a year ... put a Eforce supercharger on it now at around 490 rwhp with about the same torque ... A6 with paddle shifters and has NPP "selectable exhaust sound." A 'Vert" with the LT3 package ... list $74K - but they were dealing .....

My dilemma, I want more power - got about $74 in the 'Vette (has 3K miles on it) and trade is around $54 (if I'm Lucky) for a 2013 Shelby 'Vert - they want $69K to 71K (MSRP - $69K)- as you know makes 660ish or on Dyno around 595 rwhp (albeit 100 more hp than than the GS, but weighs 550lb more than the GS.)

So for around 15K I can trade into a car with 100 rwhp more than my Grand Sport - the Shelby or keep my 'Vette and keep Modding .....

Interested in everyone's opinion ... Know it's my decision, but want some details to consider .....

I'll start - the Corvette is a better car, and a beauty ... the Shelby is a Mustang with a big engine .....

    YOu ....

PIcs to big to post - anyone who wants me to email them pic's and can post would be thanked.

490 in a supercharged ls3 sounds pretty conservative, no?

depends if you like look or power.

Have a 12 mustang gt and I know it doesn't look near as good as a corvette or my old infiniti.

                  But power is more.

Same goes with high end sports cars like a gtr/r8 they dont have the power but they have the look

Sound like your after the power more than the look.

Lots to consider. What is your driving style? Do you prefer to just haul ass on command or do you like a good all around car? Do you need to carry and kiddos at any point in time?

The gt500 will make easily over 700 rwhp with just a couple of bolt ons and a tune. i recently worked on one, added headers, pulley, cai, tb and tune it. Made 725 hp and similar tq to the tires with 0 ill effects and you would NEVER know it unless you popped the hood.

The grandsport is an incredible, probably my favorite vette available. Super light car with awesome brakes and handling capabilities! It does lack a back seat which or me i have a 5 yr old that loves to take rides in my mustang so a vette is out of the question.

I think you need to do some due diligence my friend. I was offered a 2013 Gt500 a while back for $52K. It was black on black with track pac and had a few thousand miles. You can get a slightly used car for not much more than that used Corvette. Don't let the bullshit prices out there fool you, the GT500s are moving for less than MSRP.

buying NEW will always lose you money - I too don't like "throwing away' $15K ... BUT knowing me and the values of the "common Modded Vette" (C6's are "yesterday" as C7's are around the corner) versus a "Stock under warrant limited production 2013 or 2014 Shelby" might be worth the 15K ???? A few years down the road ... ?

I love my vette - don't see many - but do see some for sale ...

                            I almost never see Shelby GT500 'Vert's for sale ... let alone 2013's ......

One can see the way I am leaning ... hate the "bath" and am open to conversations to keep me thinking before I act ...

Thanks for the comment - nothing is out of line as I want to consider and think of .........
