You mean assumed speeding and not paying attention. A dog is not a kid and one could argue the truck had the right of way. There is also the darwin theory that the bigger vehicle always has the right of way. Sorry to hear about your dog and I hope he gets to feeling better.

Btw, what would you/wife do if he did stop? Would a apology suffice?

An apology could be misinterpreted as an admission of guilt. The last thing I'd want to deal with is a woman that is now an emotional wreck. Like many people, he was probably paying attention (at least we can hope)but doesn't see the sense is attempting to stop on a dime to avoid hitting a dog...I sure as hell wouldn't. Comparing them to kids is apples and oranges. I'd roll my fucking truck over if I could to avoid a human being/child....a pet, really depends on how fast it approaches the truck among other variables.

The bright side is the dog is fine and was pretty lucky. Hopefully something like this won't happen again.

The dog is fine. Not even an apology because even my wife knows that this was her fault, making sure he was ok would have been nice though.
