Thoughts on the Duramax

My dad is looking to buy a 2002 Chevrolet 1 ton with a Duramax. The truck is immaculate inside and out. The drivetrain has 126k. What issues does the Duramax have that he should look for? Does that year model have the Allison auto, if so, are they any good? The seller is asking 13k, is that a good price? Thanks.

I want to say yes, not 100 percent sure on the Allison tranny though.

Injector issues, Chevy bumped up the warranty on them to 10 year 200k because of the problems. Good running trucks besides that and waterpumps, throw a PPE programmer on it and don't hammer on it off the line.

if you get a duramax get an 05 1/2 and up. You want the engines with the injectors on the outside of the covers. The earlier duramax trucks injectors are a nightmare
