I've never felt like your shake was ridiculous.

Rodney,
You have to realize that you were gone for a long time on this site. This place is a constantly evolving creature. People either stick around or come and go. The ones that stick around, slightly change (whether they know it or not) to adapt to this place just as people coming in make changes to the site's demeanor. If you stick around for a while, then leave for a period of time and finally come back later, you can't expect the newer people to "get you" like we did back in the day just like you can't expect the people who have always been here to interact the same. They have stuck around each other over the years (on here) and changed with each other.
There is also another element that needs to be taken into considereation... people's outside lives. Yoy have to remember, most of us were young, single, bar-hopping, in college, etc. at one point. Now those same people are career builders, home makers, heads of households, community leaders and bitter old men.
Priorities and veiws on life have changed. You can't expect anyone to be the same as they were 15 years ago.
How many world changes have we experienced together through this board?! We have had chaos unfold in front of us like 9/11 (remember that thread, live?), we have had several of us go to war around the world, way too many of our fellow members have died, several incidents of tragedy occurred locally involving members, quite a few marriages, several graduations/jobs/promotions, an awesome amount of babies brought into this world, people coming to faith, fights (physical and verbal), many moves, a board takeover and joint migration, members coming together to the aid of those in need, massive e-lynchings...
Man, just thinking about the changes, it is almost overwhelming! To just broadly state that you wish it went back to "the way it was" is just unfair to yourself and everyone involved. I only say this because you'll just end up beating yourself over this thinking.
I hope everyone reads this post and takes something from it. The world is too small and this life is too short to spend every waking moment at each other's throats.
Your Brother,
Dennis
