I'm thankful for IM, because I can't understand half the words they speak. Indian accents especially.

Our product support for our in-house systems is in India. For the most part it is a big PITA and language is the biggest obstacle. We do weekly calls to discuss prioritization and it takes a good 30 minutes more than it should, and even then I don't think they really get what we need. Not a fan.

I understand why companies outsource but I dont know why the hell they insist on putting outsourced employees as the first line of contact for customers. I stopped using dell years ago when I couldnt get a american and I continue to do so for every other company that forces me to talk to india.

And to be clear, it's not a nationalist or race thing, I just got tired of explaining shit 20 times and still not getting a solution.

I don't know If it is totally across the board for my company, but the India folks for us are not client facing. It drives us nuts internally trying to understand what India wants or why they don't do whar we ask.
I know I am not the only one who has read an email or a IM from a India associate and want to call them but don't even try it. Just keep on emailing back and forth. It can be a total clusterfuck.
I do get a kick out of some of their names though.
