  • Bus Crash on 161

Bad scene. Looks like ~40 elderly people were headed to Oklahoma for some gambling. Happened on the northbound side of 161 at Belt Line Rd.

More than three dozen people are injured and two were killed after a private charter bus overturned along state Highway 161/President George Bush Turnpike Thursday morning.

It happened right by my office. There are a ton of emergency vehicles and four news helicopters flying outside. You can't really see anything but the choppers in the pic.

I was just behind this when it happened. Tons of smoke, cars went all over the place. traffic completely stopped, was stuck behind the bus for about 30 minutes, police had us back up and exit. I had no idea what had happened until I passed it on the off ramp.

        Terrible news so far.

            IRVING -
Two people are dead after a charter bus crashed in Irving this morning on State Highway 161 and Belt Line Road.

The Cardinal Coach Line bus was headed to the Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma.

The bus had just picked up some passengers at a supermarket in Hurst and was headed to the casino.

Witnesses say the bus may have blown a tire.

Emergency workers used the emergency exits on top of the bus to pull passengers from the vehicle.

At least 16 people are believed injured in the accident. Forty people were on board.

Several fire departments from the surrounding area are on the scene to help the injured.

Careflight was called in to get to those with the most serious injuries.

Many of the injured are headed to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Cardinal Coach Line is based in Mansfield.

What is coming to a stop, putting it in park and getting out to take a picture, frowned upon in this establishment?

In bad taste of course, but did any of those involved say "oh craps" as the bus tipped over?

                          What a shame.

Plus DFWMustangs is slipping. I got a text from WBAP at 9:30ish and nobody posted here until 45 minutes to an hour later. I can no longer trust DFWMustangs as my primary news source.

That was not the turn and flop that they were expecting, and the pair that lost their lives got a bad beat.

Heard this when I came into work little bit ago. Right down the road from work. Condolences to those that died. Hope the rest that were injured come out okay.
