SUWANEE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in northwest Georgia say a barricaded man is holding five firefighters hostage.

Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter says firefighters on Wednesday responded to a medical call in Suwanee and were taken hostage by a suspect he didn't identify.

Ritter says information on a possible motive was not immediately available and a SWAT team is on the scene. He gave no more details. A call to the Gwinnett County Fire Department was not immediately returned.

Suwanee is about 35 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta.

Make an emergency call so they'll have to open doors themselves, have recording of voice saying "Help, I'm in here", and wait for them to fill the one room you had set up for a hostage situation so you can lock them up.

OOoooor.... Wait until they've all entered the house, put a gun to the last person's head, and make them put their hands behind their backs while the one with a gun to his head zip ties their wrists. There's no way this perp would have been able to subdue all 5 without them whooping his ass unless they were completely at his mercy

The firemen were called in for a medical situation. They probably didn't even have a notion that they might be in danger from something like this.

It's a real POS move to execute something like this.

News report said he took them at gunpoint. He let one out, four still being held hostage.

Happened not too long ago, I think in Chicago but the guy started a fire then opened up when the firefighters got there.

The firefighters were safe, all have superficial wounds from the flashbang. One police officer was shot in the hand/arm (non life threatening). Suspect was killed after an exchange of gunfire. Reporters are already asking about the suspect's "stockpile of weapons".

This very well could have happened to me and my crew a couple weeks ago at that murder in Mckinney. Hope everything turns out for the best.
