Pre-Paid Cell Phone Service

My contract with AT&T will be ending this month. I am looking to get something which is more budget friendly.

Does anyone have Metro PCS or Straight Talk?

How is the service and fee's?

I had Metro PCS for several years and the service was good for the most part. Can't beat $45 a month for unlimited everything, the downside is you're limited to the DFW area and along the major highways going anywhere else in the state. Phone selection sucked though.

I think with Straight Talk you can use your AT&T phone, just go to walmart and buy a sim. Metro PCS you'll have to buy a new phone. Straight Talk uses the same towers as AT&T, I think, but won't get LTE. I know you'll save money over AT&T.

I'm happy with Metro for my personal phone. Over 2 years now.

For those of you considering Straight Talk and use an iPhone or Android based phone beware. Straight Talk can cancel your service for even downloading an app from iTunes or Google Play. I will try to find the source where I read all this but the gist of it is that you can't access the internet except through Straight Talk's portal(s) or something of that nature. I don't know to what extent that it is enforced but for obvious reasons it is why I chose not to use them.

I know Tmo offers a pre-paid plan with 4g...but not sure for how much. You should be able to use an AT&T phone with it.

If it were me, I'd buy an unlocked gsm phone or a Tmob phone and use their services.

T-mobile does the same, actually they will eventually be pre-paid plans. Plus since you have AT&T you can take your phone to them, since they also use sim cards
