  • Carrollton-Farmer's Branch people...

How are the school districts? Looking at buying a house in that area, and want to know if the schools are good for when I eventually have some little turd-machines.

Carrollton has great schools. My grandkids go to Rosemeade Elm.

You're just mad that women stay away from anything south of your belt line.

As a whole it's a good district, but there are some Title I schools over there, especially where it butts up with Dallas around the tollway.

IIRC, Carrollton is better than Farmers Branch. With that being said, the south part of Carrollton schools gets kids from Farmers Branch. So you may want to stay as far north as you can.

Someone correct me if this is no longer the case

The houses we are looking at are generally in the northern part of Carrollton, but we aren't ruling out a steal at a different location. When I was in high school, Carrollton schools were good, but that's been almost 15 years ago now, so I don't know how much it's changed.

ALL public schools suck if you want the honest truth. Are you trying to weed out hoodrats, or are you trying to weed out poor education?

Mainly hood rats. Public education is what you make of it, really, so I'm not concerned with the poor education portion. If I feel like they aren't getting the education they need then they'll be going to private school.

The schools in this area used to be great, highly decorated and well respected. But they have been going downhill. Loss of funding, teachers becoming fed up and leaving, bad teachers, bad principals. I don't know if you care about this but Caucasians are now a minority in that school district. Just some food for thought. There are still 1 or 2 good schools at each level, but the rest are headed downhill.

                        Cobraman can vouch for this

That was the case when I was in school. That's no longer the case. Kids aren't taught material anymore. They learn to memorize tests. Completely your choice, and your business, but I'd consider a smaller house that would allow you to afford a private school.

I'm sure the teachers on the board will back me up on this, because they are just as fed up over it as anyone.
