  • Tree service?

Need a tree taken down, runs between and hangs over the power lines to my house and the neighbors or I'd attempt it myself. Located in denton, any recommendations?

If it's around lines, call TXU.

They wont cut it, they just come out, look at it and tell you that you need to get it trimmed.

This is one of those deals I would hire a certified pro for. I think you are held liable for any damage you may cause which is not covered by insurance.

A buddy of mine is a tree monkey and has been doing this for going on 20 years. He works for one of the major companies here, very professional and is always looking for side work.

He trimmed 3 Oaks at my new house last summer over here in the WRL area. Neighbors were impressed and ended up doing theirs too. Shoot me a pm if your interested

You mean Oncor. TXU is the retailer, they split from Oncor as a part of deregulation.

Correct. If it's only encroaching on the drop from their pole to your house it is 100% on you. And if for some reason it falls on those lines, and rips them out and screws up the masthead, it is also on you. The most they will do is disconnect the power at the pole so that if you do screw up, it doesn't bring down a live wire.

If a tree is hanging over their lines (pole to pole) they will trim it, at a minimum, but that's it. And it's up to them to decide, and they will hack the crap out of the tree and leave it looking as ugly as possible.
