  • Annual Checkups... What kind of doc?

I know, I'm 28 years old and should know the answer to this, but I dont. Not much one for doctors, but I need to change that.

So I need to find a Dr for an annual checkup... but seeing since ive lived in Dallas my whole life, and now im in this shit hole, I don't have any clue who to go to, so I am searching by doctor type. So, which one and whats the difference?

    1) General Practice

    2) Family Medicine

    3) Internal Medicine

    Don't feel bad. I haven't had a physical since I was 18.

I use family practice for my annuals (since Dr. Dave refuses to shove things up my ass).

We get annual physicals gratis at work, but my own doctor is in Family Practice.

Dr. Dave's hands are small and gentle, don't let these dicks fool ya!

Also, since we're on the subject, you can look here for a list of what we should be getting checked up for.

Any of those would be fine, and it doesn't really matter.

A GP is just a doc who finished med school and did not complete a residency program. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as many of them are older and have decades of experience.

An FP (in most cases) completed a 3-year Family Practice residency. They deal with basic care for all ages, infants to geriatrics.

An IM (in most cases) completed a 3-year Internal Medicine residency. They normally only treat adults. Some will see adolescents as well, but not small children.

My main doc is an FP.

For anything out of the ordinary, they'll refer you to a specialist (who is often an IM with additional training in said sub-specialty).

But you're facing the other way, so you can even imagine it's me back there.

If you were in DFW, Arlington specifically, I'd suggest Dr. Michael Dao. He's great. Easy to talk to, work with, etc and MOST importantly he has VERY small hands/fingers!

Dude, if he's digging for gold in your ass @ 28 years old, he's in love with you. That's usually reserved for us older guys.
