I have no accidents on my driving record. Been pulled over a couple times for stupid stuff like tint and license plate trim while blazed yet had no issues because I don't act "blazed".

I don't smoke at work or before work. I have a decent level of education and have worked for NASA. According to IQ testing (don't put much into that test) I am "genius" level of intelligence and I don't commit crimes.... other than smoking.... which shouldn't be a crime.

I have always been for legalization of it just for the simple facts that its the least harmful feel good thing out there. When is the last time you heard about some "stoned on weed" driver killing someone? Or "He was stoned out of his mind and beat me and the kids" or "Man held up gas station at gunpoint because he was high on marijuana."?

Shit needs to be legal, more so when you realize why it was made illegal in the first place.
Well I actually do know some kids that got high, skipped school and hit a car head on. They only killed themselves and nobody else. I think weed should be legal but I think you shouldn't be allowed to drive high either.

I concur. DWI is bad m'kay. I also have high double standards and am having a hard time typing this while keeping the joint lit and not spill my uber size French frys while doing 15 over on I45.
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

      • I usually do 15 under. Lol. With all this being said for the third time in my adult life I am 100% clean. I'm thinking about freezing some pee and buying a few grams just for the fuck of it.

I really can not believe people argue about texting and driving. Like I said I could care less about another law as long as the cell phone companies address the issue.
That argument is being used right now to take away the right to keep and bear arms. No, I don't see safety as a right, it's a responsibility. Until police drive without using their laptops or cell phones, I don't want to hear that I can't. However if you're going to lock out squad cars and police phones too? I'm willing to listen.

If this was directed at me, I'm far from butt hurt. I understand your view, as stated. I was just clarifying, that your view is your view, due to chosen profession.

I get why you think what you do. I think you're wrong in that, but it doesn't bother me a bit. And as you know, opinions are like assholes, blah blah blah.

Exactly! Everyone has their opinion. It wasn't directly talking at u. Mainly the folks that got madbro at it. It's all good. Some friendly, healthy debating. Good for the heart/blood pressure... Errr, I mean mind

A lot of cities are adopting policies that prohibit use of the MDT and cellular use while moving in ur squad. My previous AND current city have this policy. U get seen doin it, cause an accident, etc: hope to at least get paper on the violation.

I very rarely ever talk on my cell in the squad and I pull over to talk on it. If I am going to text I am absolutely stopped.

I've actually been discussing this topic with a very good friend at work.

He has the same views as a lot of you guys, and I can see his/your point of view. I'm not as steadfast as I once was.

Does this mean that I will ever smoke? No. I've gone over 45 years without it, I see absolutely no reason to start. Besides, that shit stinks.

Now to Sean's statement about accepting the aspects of that freedom.

That would be totally acceptable if it were just the user's problem. The big picture is the negative effects the excessive use and other tangibles that come with it.

Go talk to the families of hard core drug users and see how it effects them. Look at the medical complications that we the taxpayers pay for. How about the stupid stuff (crimes) people do for drugs or while on drugs. What is the cost of housing and prosecuting criminal acts because of drugs?

What about the effect of drug use on employers? How many "sick" days does drugs cost this nation every year?

I think the govt isn't interested in keeping you from your freedom to do drugs, I think it's more concerned on the snowball effect it as on those issues mentioned above. Those costs far and above outweigh the simple cost of one person doing drugs.

I kind of look at policing as the little boy with his finger in the dike.

Let that thing go and look at the flood that will ensue. Law Enforcement is just keeping things at bay, because there is no way to "win" the war on drugs.

Considering the security measures on my house, I'm not very worried. In addition, I have ample insurance. The likelihood of some.. doper (lmao) breaking into my house is no higher than it would be if everything was legalized tomorrow. People who are going to do drugs are going to do them if they are legal or not. Those who aren't, aren't.

I'm sorry to hear your view that insurance is a fall back.

It's not someone else's financial responsibility to cover what some doper steals. Your deductible will be a PITA, you'll have to leave work to babysit your house while the repair guys get there, etc......

There is no empirical data that proves that crime will go up, but I believe it will if all drug laws were to be abandoned.

                          And security measures?

The dog isn't going to stop someone, and I'll guarantee I can get in your home in under 30 seconds.

I'm obviously not going to elaborate on the safety steps I've taken with my house. Someone elses financial responsibility? I love what you always offer in the way of "what if" scenarios and the idiotic leaps you make to justify yourself. Run along, plastic badge.

Can I try to breach your security measures? That freeway close to your house offers a very nice escape route....
