    Yes they are.

It's already illegal to accidentally kill someone due to a lack of control on your part. They call that manslaughter.

DWI is also horseshit. The problems you're complaining about are already illegal. Not stopping at red lights, not maintaining your lane, a general lack of controlling your vehicle.

You have yet to justify why we need these additional laws when the problems are already illegal. If you are under the influence of something and are able to maintain control of yourself and your vehicle, where's the problem?
Because I have the right to walk or ride my bike down the street without being killed by a dumbass texting. So if we can only enforce after you kill someone that is a little late in my book. A slap on the wrist is better then anyone's life in my book. I really can not believe people argue about texting and driving. Like I said I could care less about another law as long as the cell phone companies address the issue.

You are absolutely right. That's why it's already illegal to hit someone on the sidewalk.
So if we can only enforce after you kill someone that is a little late in my book.
Well hell, since we're just going to legislate things preemptively let's just ban drinking, driving, anything involving guns, or anything else that you can get killed via someone's lack of control of what they're doing.
A slap on the wrist is better then anyone's life in my book.
I agree, that's why we should leave people the fuck alone until they start dicking with someone else's freedoms and hammer them like a nail.
I really can not believe people argue about texting and driving.
It's not just texting and driving, I used that as an analogy. It's the mindset of removing someone's liberties to prevent an action that's ALREADY ILLEGAL.
Like I said I could care less about another law as long as the cell phone companies address the issue.
Why is it the cell phone company's responsibility to regulate when/where/how a person uses their mobile device? When did personal responsibility disappear?

          • Damn you racer you deleted what I meant to quote. I think you are trying to make me look crazy.

Slow down there turbo. Some people are a tad more radical than others and will never be swayed. There are always two sides to every argument and if we had all the answers we wouldn't even be talking about it. Apparently there are lots of laws on the books that a lot of people don't agree with. Apparently the people that were elected by a majority do not agree with you in some cases. I realize that the system does not always go with popular opinion but you have to work with what you got sometimes. I do not have all the answers and that is a fact.

I posted that shortly before you responded, so I went ahead and deleted it since you replied.

Do I need to help make you look crazy?

You and me would agree with a lot more then you think on that subject.

To the second part of that REALLLY! Cmon have you read any news lately? I would bet less then 50 percent of this country has any clue about personal responsibility.

I agree with you that there isn't a majority that are "for" personal responsibility, but when you say things like:

That is explicitly removing a persons responsibility for their actions.

Don't worry it wont be long before someone "important" gets killed by someone texting. Then there will be a class action against one cell phone company, and they will do something about it. Nothing says take away a personal responsibility like a big fat lawsuit.

I am done with you today fucker, it is to nice to be in doors.

I'm grasping here, but I'll be willing to bet that the number of news articles about people losing control and killing someone are less than 5% of our nations' population. That's not even a high enough statistic to warrant a recall from auto manufacturers.

                        • I don't get what is so hard to understand. There are smart people, and dumb people, but some people from both groups do drugs. Smart people will know how to handle themselves, and dumb people will let it drag them into the deep end.
The proof is there that making a substance (or action for this matter) illegal will not solve the problem. Big brother wants the Amerian people to be scared of these illegal things, so they can "protect us" from them. By that they mean strip our rights away, but as long as the people approve of it, it is "ok." This happens in every country that allows an abusive government to take over, it never happens over night.

I thought this was a good quote for Nancy: "Liberal: a power worshipper without power."
                          George Orwell

In regards the the previous quote: The only thing I can agree with you on is the legalization of drugs. I believe in this for a different reason though.

I have never done any drugs and never intend to, and I believe human beings do not need a large government to make a small decision, such as this, for themselves.

Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Oh don't worry, pointing out your repetitive stupidity is far from me getting up in arms. It's actually relaxing to be repeatedly assured that there are people below me on the totem pole.
