How fast do you run on I-45?

Typically, I'm a pretty slow runner. You see, my knees just can't take it that well. I would guess that the best I could muster up over a decent distance would be about 7 mph. If it were a dead sprint for a short distance, then I might be able to pull off 13 mph.
To run down I-45, I'd just say fuck you and call a cab.

Speed limit until out of s. dallas. Then maybe I'll do 5-10 over until huntsville, then I just try to go with the flow. The fast lane tends to be tricky fast with the construction but the slow lane is crawling.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

It's been a while since I have gone down 45 but my general practice for longer freeway drives is to run between 5 and 10 over. Usually that keeps me from a ticket if a cop sneaks up on me, allows me to make good time, and I'm not having to keep my head on a constant swivel.
I will join packs, or even just one or two faster moving cars for a while here and there, to pick up a little time. In those cases I will run a little faster but still usually stay under a hundred. If I come over a hill and see a long open road ahead, with no cars or popo hiding spots, I will bump it up to 120 or 130 for a short stretch, just for fun. I generally won't pass other people moving that fast though, in case they do something stupid and I wouldn't have time to react. Just catch up to them then slow back down to my "normal" speed. Fastest I've gotten up to like that is 140.

Back around 1999 I made it from I-30 & 635 to north San Antonio in 3.5 hours in my Cobra. Me, my valentine, my cousin and pair of binoculars. Didn't get popped, but on the way back I get pulled over in Selma by a trooper for no front plate. :angry:Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

80-90 on I45 if others are doing the same. My truck isn't a race car.
Now, west Texas roads in college was a whole different ball game. Rode a 954rr for a few years and made the Dfw to Lubbock trip on it several times where 100 was slowing down. Ride for an hour, get gas and stretch, and repeat. Usually took 4 hours from Lubbock to the ex girlfriends place in Richardson.

I don't really go that fast any more because I drive an old Chevy truck. Don't think I ever hit 100 in it. Did 90 once while passing and it was solid and accelerating quickly still but its an old truck. Not ment for speed.
Now when I had my blown Mark I always set the cruise at 100+ and I was worse in my 03 Cobra. LOL
Sometimes IU wonder why I spent all that money for a fancy pants radar detector in my truck. Cops don't give a damn if you are only going 5-10 over it seems.
Hell, Waco cops don't care if you blow a red light.Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Only time I go faster now is when driving the Acura, and that thing is smooth as shit to 140 at least.

Usually I try to go around 10 mph over the speed limit but alot of it will depend on the flow of traffic and time of day.

Those damn Palmer Police cars have the brightest light set ever made. I got pulled over at night on my way to Houston last year (driving the speed limit in my Mark) and those lights filled up my car and the surrounding area brighter than daylight. Every trip to Houston there is one with someone pulled over, usually both directions. He just asked for my license, checked my inspection sticker and said have a good night.Last edited by slow84lx; 04-05-2013, 08:24 PM.
