I hate to interject here in your moon blood showing, but just because you explain your opinion doesn't make it not retarded. Many people can perfectly explain extremely retarded ideas.

gimme a fuckin break Sean. dont even try to spin this.
You are a true cocksucker if you dont give them the respect due because they signed the ultimate contract(their life).....one that you never signed i might add. Now, if they go around being assholes that expect privilidges and whatnot, that respect goes away. I respect everyone in a uniform until they show disrespect or like the world owes them something.

You sound alot like the little boy that grew up in a military family but could never be in the military do to complications and is now bitter towards them.

You're showing the very characteristics you claim to disrespect. You think the world owes people that served some respect. I don't owe you a goddamn thing. You were compensated for a job that you agreed to do. Does it suck when people are killed in the line of duty? Fuck yes. Don't attempt to elevate everyone to the position of those that have been killed, you're only doing a disservice to the sacrifice.

Congratulations, you are what you claim to hate.

Good, hate me. i dont give two shits. You have zero clue what honor, courage, and commitment means. You dont know what respect means. I absolutely think the world should respect the military.
That doesnt mean kiss their ass, but show them the respect they deserve.
You also dont get to quit the military like a job.

The military is more than a job it is a lifestyle in my humble opinion, I don't think less of you for not serving; however, I do wonder about you when you seem intent on bashing those who served who were not killed in action or awarded the CMH. If this is the case then the fire fighter who does not die in the fire but saves a life should not be held in high esteem? The police officer who patrols the highways for years arresting the drunk driver who may have hit you or a loved one but never fires a shot is not worthy? The soldier who wakes up in Afghanistan and fixes breakfast as a cook for those who patrol but never fires a shot, she is less than too?

Not only are you hypocritical, but you can't read either. I never said I hated you.

                      You assume.
You dont know what respect means.
I respect those worthy of it. You have given me no reason to respect you.
I absolutely think the world should respect the military.
But wait, didn't you just say:

Oh fuck, you sure as hell did. Pick a side, you can't have your cake and eat it too, in this instance.
That doesnt mean kiss their ass,
                      To you it does.
but show them the respect they deserve.
And they get every ounce of respect they deserve, the same amount shown to any other run of the mill person.
You also dont get to quit the military like a job.
Jobs, generally, also don't have contracts that spell out a length of time you must work there.

I'm not bashing those who served. I'm bashing those who think they should automatically garner a higher level of respect than anyone else.

                          • Most military people I have met, have no real combat experience. They partied, and had fun for 4 years.

The guys who get shot at, and all that other jazz i respect. Mainly not from them protecting my so called freedoms, but that they volunteered for it.

Lets just say, how many proud ww2 vets did you see as a child? Id see a hat from time to time. Most would not even talk about it. Then every tom dick and harry that was in Nam thinks the world owes them something. Its very similar to the vets coming home today. Back ww2 days there was a clean winner. The boys came home knowing they did good.

I think its hard for the Nam vets and the vets of today to say the same. This brings them to cling to the i fought for your freedoms line.

Misread the first part about hate....my bad.

And no, jobs dont have a length of time that you have to work there....the military does so if you dont like it you are fucked.....if you do like it, you can keep doing it. You try to quit that job and your ass ends up in the brig.

I take back what I said about not owing them anything....i think you owe them respect. Simple as that. You dont have to buy them a beer, or shake their hand, or even look at them....but in the back of your mind, I think you should be thankful for the people that sign up to protect you and be respectful of that.
May God give us strength and courage in the time of our darkest hours.

                                If you read passage #38 you argued the following;

[QUOTE=racrguy;1021451]Doing heroic shit makes you a hero, not simply signing on the dotted line.

I think there are too many past, present, and future service members that need to be knocked down a peg or two so that they realize that they're just regular people that do a regular job that millions before them have done and millions after them will do.[QUOTE]

Millions have done what billions feared to do in my opinion. Could you please confirm exactly how it is you feel about military service. I am bit confused.
