News flash. Your job doesn't earn you respect, you being respectable does. Who cares if someone has served in the military? The job and routine actions hold no reverence. Sean, the first thing that happened when the second plane hit the building was that our military got locked, cocked and ready to rock. I got a phone call within 30 minutes after the second plane saying get my shit together and get to base.
Just because we dont have little hajis running the streets that the military is shooting at every day doesnt mean for even a second that they are not protecting our every day freedoms.

When they second plane hit, did you get a call and put on high alert that we were at war with an unknown enemy and to standby until further notice?

Please join the military it will change who you are and given your rant against veterans you may learn why people who serve are so proud of what they have given. I love it when people talk about their military service, we share, talk about duty stations and share funny stories very few if any are ever about combat mainly fun times and funny stories. The military makes many of us better people by giving us the guidance and leadership needed to get a clue, get a grip and finally get a life. Perhaps you should consider such, the military is what you make of it, it allows you to test yourself in an environment not offered anywhere else in this country.

So day after day I hear and read online people saying they were in the military. Good for them, I commend their service. The more I read and hear about it I feel like these people are starting to use it as a crutch or some form of trying to be better than others. They bust out the "Im a wounded veteran" or "I served in 2 wars" all the time. I could be talking to a patients family member who is half dead and some guy needs to tell me that he was in the military and he is a wounded veteran and turn the conversation on himself. I dont care.

Reading on slickdeals about Home Depot deals and a guy got butt hurt people called him naive. Then he has to respond

Im sure I will be bashed being that I have not served in the military but if this sense of egotism or being conceited, it sure isnt a place for me. I dont run around telling people I work in healthcare and help save lives. No one cares. And just so you know, all of my uncles and my father served in the military. I get that it is a good structure and a good think you can do for others. I may still join by applying to the Army CRNA school and give them 8 years of my life...not 100% sure yet. These are the choices we make in life. Some people will go into the military and serve their entire life, some will be firefighters/police/EMS, and some will run Wall St.
