Seems to be leaned on way too much these days and just as anything there will always be those that abuse privileges.

As I said in a conversation before. Some of these yokels are a product of "every service member/vet is a hero" mentality. Fuck that. Doing heroic shit makes you a hero, not simply signing on the dotted line.
I think there are too many past, present, and future service members that need to be knocked down a peg or two so that they realize that they're just regular people that do a regular job that millions before them have done and millions after them will do.
I have more than a few family members and friends that are prior and current military members that don't even bring the topic up unless they're asked about it. They don't try to get free/discounted stuff even though it's a perk, they don't attempt to elevate their opinions or knowledge over others. They're reasonable people, unlike those that use it as a crutch.

DFWMustangs answer: yes
Real answer: no
To be fair, I've met several people (most of them from Austin) that think that being a vet/current service member automatically makes you a bloodthirsty, war mongering, evildoer. It's no more right than the notion that floats around here that military experience is the highest of the high water marks for life experiences. Doesn't make that service any less valuable, but it doesn't make you jesus, either.
