I like it there. Relatively close (1 day driving distance) to a lot of Eastern US places. About 3 billion times better than Houston, in my opinion.

Yes...there are several opportunities for my wife. And she will still work...because she loves what she does. She wont make as much as she does here though.
Physician salary is location dependent...especially with Emergency Medicine. The south pays much better than the north. ER docs average $300k but that is just the base salary with fulltime hours. Most ER docs work a couple more shifts per month to earn more money so the numbers you see on the net arent accurate. The job up there is pretty lucrative because 97% of their patient base is insured and the hospital is very busy...but has a system set up to where they can move the patients through the system very efficiently. So the more patients I see the the more money I make. Where I am now, I get an hourly rate regardless of how many patients I see...but there is an incentive on top of the hourly rate to get you to work harder.
Denny, you still have to jump through all the BS hoops to get to this point!

They have a HUGE level 1 trauma center that covers something like 3 counties. Am I pretty close to correct on the hospital?Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. I've flown in and out of there about a dozen times but never actually stayed there. I used to travel to a shit-ass town in Eastern KY up in the mountains. I would stay clear of anywhere too far east of there, bunch of fucked up people out that way.

I'll graduate with JD at 37. Hopefully my prior experience and the path I hope to take will get me beyond the slave part.
