How many miles do you get out of a set of tires?

I've got 34k miles on the Mustang's front tires. They still have at least 70% of the tread left and they are wearing evenly.

The rear drag radials get about 15k miles before cords start showing, so I'm on my third set (first at 1200mi, second at 17k, third at 32k). But they're worth it.

I did not rotate the LTX on my F150. Rears are over 70K. Fronts go about 35K. When I needed fronts, I removed the spare, put the best used tire on the spare, bought one new LTX, boom, one tire purchase in 79 months and over 70K. I loves teh Michelin.

Navigator: ~60k on Michelin, ~45k on Falken. Just bought some no-name tires I came across for extra-cheap so we'll see how much they last. I've only put 6k on that thing in a year so not too worried about it...

Freestyle: ~70k on Good Year, ~40k & counting on Firestone that will probably be replaced later this year.

Grand Am: ~25k & counting on Good Year (previous owner purchase, so who knows how many before that) that will also be replaced later this year.

On my trucks, I typically try to buy new/low-mile take-off wheel/tire sets w/ Michelins. Put 30-40k on them, and sell them for what I've got in them. They're usually pretty damn presentable with those miles on them

55K on factory Goodyears on my Sierra 1500. I replaced with Michelin LTX

I've got about 35K on my Michelin LTX/MS2's on my Titan and they still look damn near new. I'm betting I'll get 80-90k out of them, but I also check the pressure weekly and rotate every oil change.

my dad ran the michelin ltx's on his dodge 2500 cummins work truck. they would last 90k before touching the wear bars.


my Trans am is lucky to get 15k out of the 315s and 30k out of the 275s up front.

I've got 39k on some michellins (e)...I don't remember the model, but they're the stock tire on my f250...they look to have 50%ish left

I got ~60k out of the stock Goodyears(and never rotated/balanced them), then about 60k from a set of Nitto 420s(that had to be rotated/balanced every 4k), my first set of Michelins yielded just over 100k miles and I'm around 50k deep on my second set of them.

First thing I look at when shopping for tires is treadwear rating. I get the highest I can which usually means loud, hard tires but they last. I got Nitto 420S on my suburban right now and have about 40k on them and they look to be around 50-75% tread left. They suck first thing in the morning though because they develop slight flat spots sitting over night but all I care about is treadwear and performance in rain and they do great in both.

You can look up your existing tires, if they are still available on Discount Tires site. It will tell you the tread life, and most are as noted above. I got more than 70k out of the Toyos on my Tacoma, but they were f'ed at that point. They were also hard as a rock from day one, and slippery as hell. The replacements were great, but traded it not long after.


I'm very disappointed in the treadwear rating for the GT. 20k is stupid...
