    Spot price on 14k, gold?

    What should I be looking for per gram/oz of 14k gold if I were to take some in to store to sell?

      If gold's at $1600 an ounce, 14k is a little less than 60% pure. I guess about $800 an ounce if you're lucky.

        Always know what you've got before shopping it around.
        At $1,597 spot gold(last kitco quote), *real* 14k melt value is $29.95 per gram.
        1597 / 31.1 x 14 / 24 = 29.95
        (in penny weights it would be 46.58 per pennyweight)

        What you take for it, is up to you.

        I have given full melt for stuff that I can use, down to 70% for stuff that I can't use.

        P.S.: there is some gold that people WILL NOT buy.

            31.1 grams per troy ounce.

            20 pennyweights per troy ounce.
            Not many people quote in pennyweights these days.

            Also, old gold may not reliably test out at their stamped hall mark, but it would be close.
            For example old 14k may not test out at 14k reliably, but it should come out every time
            at 12k.

            Modern hallmarked gold *should* always test true.

              How old are we talking? I think the stuff I am wanting to sell is from the early 80's and is jewelry. It is marked 14kp which if I understand correctly means it is no less than 14k. It is all gold though with no stones anything like that. It should melt right down without issue. If anyone is interested in a few gold nugget rings to bring back that 70's nostalgia shoot me a PM!

              Just called a place that I want to go shop it at and asked what they were paying per gram for pure 14k. He said that they measure in pennyweight so thanks for that info. I am going to go see what he says.
