Try these people out if it gets near the end.

    http://www.texaspethospice.com/news/

They came out to Possum Kingdom Lake for my mom and put their Golden Retriever to sleep on her bed on the shore of the lake. Her favorite place and no stress of being at a vet and being scared. They will do it where ever you want and their prices are usually cheaper than having it done at the vets office. I use them for my older rescue dog who I thought was on her last leg recently. I took her to two vets who were not really helpful. They have helped me nurse her back to really good health and provide me with meds at the cheapest price possible. They get their meds directly from the drug mfg and sell them to their clients at wholesale prices. It is a husband and wife doing the service just because they love animals and they have several vets that they use for home visits. They really take a ton of stress out of the situation for the owner and pet.

if you love it, put it down. I've had to do it a few times with a good vet. No more pain, they just go to sleep. never easy. life for a dog is running and playing and making you happy. When they can't do that, it's time man. Always sad.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

Sorry you have to deal with this. 3 years after having to hear my Deebo take his last breath I haven't come to terms with it all. Do everything you can because regret is a fucking bitch.

Sorry to hear about your pup. I remembered reading a pretty good article at a conference about CHF and was able to find a copy online. It covers many of the questions you and others have posted in this thread. Cliff Notes.. an echo is usually not required to diagnose CHF it just can give a better overall picture of what your pup is dealing with and increase the chances of a successful treatment plan to maximize life expectancy. Best wishes for your kiddo.

Dogs rule, I dread the day something happens to one of mine. Good luck with yours, I hope she pulls through.

Sorry to hear about your pup man. Our dogs are like our children and better people than most people. It sucks to see them in pain. The sad reality is though, that most are only with us for a short time and as painful as it is to see them leave it is better than watching them suffer through life.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I can highly recommend http://www.centerforvetspecialtycare.com/ They are known nationally and very good. As the name implies they are specialists in their prospective fields. State of the art facility with all of their own in house equipment. Most vets have to contract for an ultrasound to come in and do the job, these guys have their own machine, they even have their own MRI in house.

I have a small dog myself (chi/toypom) and I love her to death. She will wait outside my bedroom door or garage door for hours waiting for me to come back in. Best buddy I could have ever asked for.

The test are nothing in the long run, they dont know what she has and I assume they are running everything to attempt to define a treatment plan. Hope everything is okay, but if she is suffering, just put her down.

Hell, I know it is illegal but I bury my animals on my families property. Take a chisel and a brick for a head stone and plant some flowers, at least you can still stop by and visit you know.

Best wishes, but remember "Plan for the worst and hope for the best".

My parents 9 y/o Collie had CHF. Treatment proved to be ineffective and it became a quality of life issue, so they made the reluctant decision to put her to sleep. They were emotionally unable to stay in the room for the procedure. My wife & I held on to her until she took her last breath. It sucked beyond words. You have my sympathy.
