  • Life sure is fickle

Earlier today I was about halfway pissed because someone had borrowed some shit and not returned it, figured it out after I told another friend they could borrow said shit, and couldn't find it.

Fast forward a couple hours and, in talking with a friend, learned of another friend who will be dead in the next couple months. Turns out this 38 year old Joe America type dude with two adorable kids and a wife went to the doctor about four months ago because he was feeling like total shit for a couple weeks or a month or whatever. Doc comes back and tells him he has stage four cancer and has 4-6 months to live. We're in month four and he's lost 50 lbs or so, can't move without a chair. Turns out I have his number in my phone, as our kids are friends, and have actually spent the night before. This is a big huge gigantic eye opener, and about halfway balls me up.

Feeling kind of petty for having been pissed about someone not returning material shit right about now...

I've had a couple of friends die in the last year. It makes you realize that your card could be pulled at any time. I also realized that I need to stop sweating the small stuff and enjoy life. I'm not religious at all, but I believe every day is a blessing.

Sometimes life hits you in the face. For the good or the bad.

Well said. I lost two buddies this week. Life is too short and your number can be called on at any moment.

Sux to hear man. I have lost my mema, great aunt and great grandmother all in the past month. the first two in the same day. Life is too precious to piss it away on petty stuff.

What is this good you speak of?

Sucks about your buddy though, not looking forward to when/if my brothers cancer gets real bad. It's already pretty bad, but could get a hair worse.

Life sure can suck sometimes, just gotta plow through it and let the trying times make you stronger and better.

I refuse to let life get me down. Shit happens, you gotta deal with it ... That's part of the whole process right? Some of us just experience more trying times than others. I wasn't looking for pity though, just screwing around.

Seems like i'm hearing about a lot of people i went to high school with dying lately. My MIL passed suddenly last year after having a pain in her stomach - went to the doc and was dead 6 weeks later. A friend of my wife had a husband that expired suddenly. A good friend of mine that is about my age died in a tragic car accident after going into diabetic shock behind the wheel, leaving behind a wife and two teenage kids. And so on.

There comes a point in a persons life where you realize that you are not bullet proof, the clock is ticking, and there may not be many more years left...... time is precious, make good use of what time you have here.
